The year was 1868 when a deed for land was given to "First Freewill Baptist Church of Adrian" to construct a church building. The building was completed and ready for service in December, 1868! The church was built on a stone foundation using old-fashioned mortise and tenon construction. The outside was white painted clapboard and had full length windows with green shutters. The inside had an auditorium and a balcony for larger crowds. The building has very high ceilings and, at the time of construction, needed two wood burning stoves to heat the building. The building originally seated 114 people and the original pews had a divider that divided the men and women as was the practice at the time. The new church had a bell that was cast from cast number 490 of the McShane Bell Foundry of Baltimore, Maryland. It is said that the bell could be heard for several miles throughout the valley. This same church bell is still rung prior to the start of every service.
Today a thriving church still serves the Savior in Adrian, New York. The church today conducts worships services on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday of every week. The Sunday School classes are taught by teachers that love and care for the those being taught and teach a lesson based upon the Word of God.
